History
Anyang Public Art Project(APAP) is a public art event that encourages its participants to reimagine the way they understand and perceive the city.
It is a project to transform the city itself into a gallery in which people can enjoy art in their daily life by introducing and presenting context and environment of the changing modern city, such as history, culture, landform, and development of Anyang with various forms of public artworks, such as art, sculpture, architecture, design, and performance.
It is co-existing with the people of the city in their daily life.
Theme
ZONE 7 - Your Imaginary Space
The theme of APAP7 is composed of three subject terms : “ZONE 7,” “You(r),” and “Imaginary Space.”
While “ZONE 7” refers to this year’s APAP, which has reached its seventh anniversary, it also has other connotations.
Along with positive meanings such as luck, hope, and perfection, “ZONE 7” is a metaphor for an imaginary space (Zone 7)
that transcends realistic spaces (Zones 1- 6).
“You” refers to us, or the public. It aims at both the democratization of art in the sense of “public art for everyone” and artistic democracy in the sense of “public art by everyone.”
Lastly, “Imaginary Space” is a “realized utopia” similar to the concept of a heterotopia (hétérotopie) proposed by Michel Foucault, or even an “imaginary space dreamed of in reality,” while thinking of “imagination” as “imagining what is not here and now on the horizon of reality.
” Altogether, “Your Imaginary Space” is an artistic public sphere owned by everyone and a space for “productive imagination” that reconstructs past experiences to create something new.
About Exhibitions
APAP7 has organized the entire project by time slots. The results of the pre project, which involves the participation of Anyang citizens, will be showcased in the indoor exhibition of the main project, while the post project will serve as a platform for evaluation and sharing diverse opinions after the completion of the main project.

메인 아이덴티티
The atmosphere of the 7th Anyang Public Art Project is characterized by the key phrase “Imaginary Space”, which is part of the exhibition theme, “Zone 7 - Your Imaginary Space.” Zone 7 is a new type of space created by our collective imagination; it is not a space that exists within this realm of human life that we inhabit. To visually express this imaginary space, keywords such as “vivid”, “fun”, “unusual”, “universe”, “spacetime”, “magic”, “alien”, “multiverse”, “Star Wars”, and so on are used. This event’s logo serves as a magical totem for spurring the imagination, guiding viewers to Zone 7.
Main Poster
The 3D version of APAP7’s logo is placed in the center of the poster, with the latitude and longitude of Anyang Pavilion expressed using small colored dots at the bottom. The English title is elongated behind the letters to create a three-dimensional feel, reminiscent of the theme of imaginary space. Additionally, in the background, the English title is repositioned with a rough texture, as if engraved on a solid surface, all in order to showcase various facets of visual amusement.
Dummy Poster
The eight patterned dummy posters, created alongside the main poster, feature various unique logo designs and graphics according to APAP’s current theme, providing an enjoyable visual experience. Diverse versions of the logo, all in alignment with the direction of the main theme, serve as another element of fun for those experiencing APAP7. This feature expands the possibility of imagination of another space of APAP7 held in the multiverse.
